Areas that I serve:   I live in the Greenwood area, but I travel to all areas of Indianapolis, as well as surrounding cities. I have attended births as far away as Shelbyville, Bloomington, Zionsville,  and Lafayette.  I am also employed thru Community Health Network and attend births at all 3 of their area hospitals.  If you are planning to give birth at one of the Community Hospitals, then please call their doula center at 317-621-2397 and request advise Carol Euliss that you request me as your doula.

Initial Consultation (free): This is a meet and greet so we can each get to know the other a little and decide if we will feel comfortable working together. The most important thing is that you find a doula who you are comfortable with, whom you trust, and that you sense will provide the support you need.

1st prenatal visit :  This prenatal visit provides us an opportunity to become more comfortable with one another. It is time to discuss the mother's (and partner's) vision of an ideal birth. During this visit we will also take care of paperwork, discuss comfort measures and work together to discover what exactly is most relaxing for the mother.

1 doctor (or midwife) visit if requested: Sometimes a doctor or midwife will want to meet the doula, or you may request this to make you feel more at ease.

2nd prenatal visit: This visit is for you to meet my doula partner, and for us to go over any further questions or concerns that perhaps we haven't talked about.

On Call:  During your pregnancy I am available for reassurance and information from 8:30am to 10:00pm. Starting two weeks prior to your due date (at 38 weeks)  until birth I will be on call 24/7 for you. I will also be on call for the 1st week after birth in case you need help of any kind.

Labor and birth:  I will be with you (once you are in established labor) throughout your labor and birth to provide the continuous and undivided attention that you need. I partner with another doula that I trust implicitly to give my clients the care that I feel they deserve. If your labor should go on for a long time, (16-24 hrs or more)  I may call in my partner to attend you while I go rest and restore myself.  Usually, that means that she comes to be with you while I take a short nap and have something to eat. She will also be available to you, if for some reason, I am unable to attend your labor and birth. For instance if you were to go into labor 1-2 weeks before your due date, and I am already with another client.  During your labor and birth experience I will utilize my doula training,  aromatherapy and reflexology as well as my experience and expertise to help you and your partner manage discomfort and concerns. Sometimes, unexpected things happen during a birth experience. I will help remind you and your partner of your wishes as well as working with your care provider to be sure you are aware of any risks or benefits of any decisions you need to make. The goal is for you to have a sense of control and comfort with the care you and your child are given.

Breastfeeding support:  I will remain with you for at least one to two hours after birth to assist with early breastfeeding.

Pictures and Story:  During labor, I will gather clinical  information and candid (amateur) photos for you.  This information will be presented to you at the post-partum visit so that you can create a personal scrapbook or birth story for your child if you choose.

Postpartum visit:  I will visit you to discuss your birth experience and to clarify any questions that you may have. I usually try to schedule this before you leave the hospital or within a week or two of your home or birth center birth.

Fees: I request that fees for private clients be paid half at the first pre-natal visit and the balance at the second pre-natal visit.
If a scheduled c-section become necessary late in the pregnancy due to medical reasons, I will waive the 2nd half of the fee if you feel  you no longer need my services.  However, if  you wish me to be present at the birth to help with a family-centered (gentle) cesarean,  breastfeeding, and take to pictures, I will be glad to do that and there will be no waiver. This instance will require discussion with your care provider to obtain permission for me to be present in the OR. At most area hospitals, this is generally an accepted practice, especially if discussed with the care provider in advance.
